"The Dixie Rose"
An "Old Salt" told us that the Dixie Rose was was part of a shrimping fleet off the south Brunswick Islands for over forty years. Hurricane Floyd swamped the boat dockside at Varnamtown and after it was raised it was deemed unsalvageable. Dixie Rose is portrayed in the painting above as it appeared when it was moored on the Intracoastal Waterway near Calabash awaitng to be scuttled off the coast near Sunset Beach. It now serves as an artificial reef for marine life. "The Dixie Rose" by V. Ryan Lauzon is scheduled to be released as a signed, limited edition print by early summer of this year. You can reserve a copy of this print by contacting Collector's Corner.
